This afternoon I, along with some of the boxers from the upcoming Long Island Fight For Charity event, made a visit to one of the three benefiting charities, Family Residences and Essential Enterprises, Inc. (FREE). FREE supports individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, mental illness and traumatic brain injury. An administrator gave us a tour of the facility and we had the opportunity to meet and speak with some of the special individuals who benefit from this organization’s efforts. The Long Island Fight for Charity organization is making a strong effort to promote the upcoming event as well as the boxers. Their periodic newsletter features a few of the boxers in each edition and, this time, I made it into the queue! I think it’s great that this newsletter helps introduce all of the boxers to the supporting audience—adding a personal connection to the event. Continue reading “It looks like I made the newsletter”

This article appeared in the print edition of the Long Islander newspaper. It was nice, from a PR perspective, to see the coverage—hopefully it spreads the word for our cause. It’s official—I’m in! As of this evening, the roster of charity boxers has been announced.

It was a beautiful event held at the The Mansion at Oyster Bay (formerly The Woodlands) with an impressive attendance. Our evening started off with the sizing of our boxing trunks, tanks and more.
